Why Formate Software?
All companies need to create business forms or documents, whether it’s an invoice to get paid or perhaps a pick list to select goods for a customer order.
Traditionally all of these business documents were printed, very often on expensive pre-printed stationery and in the case of invoices and statements most likely delivered by post. Not any more – companies now want the flexibility to deliver documents via email, fax, over the web or when forced to, by post; they also want the ability to add marketing statements, special offers, discount coupons or any number of special promotions.
There’s one small problem, most companies don’t have flexibility to do this, which is where Formate software comes in. Formate takes standard print data from any business system (from SAP to Sage) and creates the document you want, then delivers it in the most useful way. What Does Formate Do?
Formate takes data from a host system, perhaps as a print file (or XML, CSV, ASCII text) and transforms it into the document you want to send and delivers it by the most appropriate method. For example, an invoice may contain marketing information depending on the recipient (e.g. special offers relevant to certain types of customer), then depending on the customer it will be printed, faxed, or emailed. The emailed document can be delivered in any number of formats, PDF, Word, Excel, XML, Tif, CSV or Text.

How does Formate grab data from the host?
Formate software runs on an NT or 2000/3 MS Windows platform and continually monitors a user definable watch folder(s), POP/3 Mailboxe(s), or virtual printer(s). Users simply direct spool queue output at the designated watch folder or virtual printer and Formate automatically recognizes the print file and processes accordingly. Formate can also accept data from virtually any system on the network for example UNIX, NT or IBM AS/400 or mainframe
