What are the cost benefits of network faxing?
Network faxing may be a little long in the tooth and viewed as an old fashioned technology next to e-mail, but how often do we rely on it when the e-mail server is down or a customer needs a document now. In reality we all still rely on faxing and we will do for a number of years to come. If you take the time to look at faxing in more detail, some surprising statistics emerge:
Fax traffic is still increasing by approximately 10 to 15% per annum 20 to 40% of all telephone bills are fax related 40% of all international calls are fax related 90% of faxes are sent by fax machines In large companies (500+ employees) the faxing volume can be nearly double that of post
In light of these statistics, it's surprising faxing is often ignored when we consider our IT strategy; because we take it for granted we don't realise the potential savings in terms of telephone bills and human resource.
The number one benefit of network faxing is the immediate cost saving in terms of your time.
Lets look at an example:
Conventional Fax = 5 minutes This figure is based on copying the document, walking from your desk, and waiting while you send the fax.
Desktop fax (using network fax product) = 1 minute Faxing from the desktop there is no need to leave your desk.
Time reduction = 80%
If a company sends 100 faxes per day, it will take 500 minutes = 8.3 hours per day
At a labour cost of £9 per hour, that's a cost of £75 per day or (250 days x 75) = £18,750 per year
If you can save 80% of your time, the saving over a year is £15,000 |
