In our experience, many companies have all their Formate skills locked up in one person, which leaves them exposed if they’re off sick or on holiday. This person tends to develop Formate applications and provide support in the event of a problem. It’s often not economical to train another person to this level, so with this in mind, we’ve developed a new Formate Administrator training course.
This 1 day course is ideal for companies wishing to spread support skills to a number of their IT support staff, with the emphasis being on support and admin as opposed to developing new applications in Formate.
Key topics covered are:
- Formate Overview – what does it do and how does it fit into a company’s infrastructure
- Installing /Upgrading Formate and adding Print Queues
- Best Practices and Good House Keeping - database compaction, file pruning, required services, setting up administrators etc
- Error checking – how best to diagnose a problem and recover
- Common problems – printer drivers issues, network shares, email servers, permissions
- Importing and Exporting Formate projects
- Backup Strategy – We cover the need for a backup strategy and look at various options from multiple servers to VMware
Advanced Formate Training Course - 3 days

Document Genetics recently published the ‘Formate Ideas Handbook’ illustrating ways to improve document processing in your business. We have now put together a series of advanced training modules to enable these ideas to be realized. This 3 day course is practical in nature and delegates will be provided with sample projects/data and be required to produce real worked examples for each course module - this collateral can then be used as the basis for implementing the course module within a live business environment.
It is recommended that delegates have completed the Formate standard course prior to attending the advanced course.

This course is ideal for Formate users wanting to explore the power of Alchemy, particularly when driven by Formate.
Course Content:
The majority of the course will consist of 'hands on' workshops showing how to create Alchemy databases and profiles, and how to update and query using Formate.

- Design; Fields, Look-ups, Profiles, stop-list and Indexing Methods
- Data Load; Formate, Drag and Drop, Add Data and Batch Profiles

- Alchemy Search
Attendees should be commuter literate. Attendance on the basic Formate course would be an advantage for the ‘Formate Integration part of the course but is not essential.
