New Electronic Safety Behaviour Observation (e-SBO) Application
May, 2021
ALPLA IS A WORLD LEADER IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND PRODUCTION OF PLASTIC PACKAGING SOLUTIONS. They produce innovative packaging systems, bottles, closures and injection-moulded parts for a wide range of industries. The company and products are shaped by tradition as a family-operated business, use of the latest technologies, desire for innovative solutions, and the expertise and commitment of their employees.
The issue of occupational health and safety merits a great deal of attention. All employees should be able to work in a healthy and safe environment. The personal health and safety of Alpla's employees is the main driver for a new Electronic Safety Behaviour Observation (e-SBO) Application.
e-SBO uses the same infoForms app as the Electronic Permit to Work (ePTW) forms that was rolled out around the UK in 2019. These infoForms apps are a great addition to Alpla’s Health & Safety processes and have made the transition from paper-based forms very straightforward.
Previously the paper-based e-PTW & e-SBO forms had to be manually entered into an excel file on a shared drive; the new electronic systems remove the need for this as all data is stored and integrated into the back end SQL databases. The e-PTW & e-SBO systems are implemented on existing mobile tablets, therefore minimising spending on additional hardware.
“Alpla e-SBO is a new electronic system designed with the existing paper Saftey Behaviour Observation (SBO) forms in mind and will allow our plants to carry out these important observations more easily and quickly whilst also significantly reducing the amount of administrative effort and time required to input the results afterwards.
The photo upload with annotation etc is also a brilliant addition for this as well as the fact they can ping actions directly from the e-SBO at submission to get things fixed, changed resolved, etc.
The system provides data that can actually be used such as reporting and automatic creation of a PDF version of the completed form. Plus, users are happy it is saving a lot of time”
